On May 16, 1913, Mr. Plummer was united in marriage with Mrs. Irene (Maxwell) Seabolt, the widow of John Seabolt. She was born in Washington Township, Cambria County, Oct. 29, 1866, the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Maxwell, both deceased. The former was a native of Ireland and a pioneer settler of Cambria County. By her first marriage Mrs. Plummer had the following children: Michael, Chester, Catherine, both deceased, Mary, Genevieve, Francis, Brady and John Patrick. P. H. Clark, is well and favorably known throughout Cambria County as a substantial citizen. He was born near Bedford, Pa., May 17, 1880, and is the son of William and Anna (Cuppett) Clark. William Clark was born at Manns Choice, Pa., in 1887, and has always been a farmer. He owns a well improved stock farm of 200 acres near Manns Choice. Mr. Clark is a Democrat and a member of the Presbyterian Church. His wife was born at New Paris, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Clark have the following children: P.H., the subject of this sketch; A.J. lives at Portage; Bessie, married George Gugerson, lives at Pleasantville, Pa.; Harry, at home; Mary married Homer Mowery, lives in Iowa; and John, at home. P. H. Clark grew up on his father's farm and attended the schools of Schellburg, Pa. He farmed until he was 20 years of age and then learned telegraphy. He was later employed by the Forge Coal Mining company and in 1906 settled in Portage, where he has had various business interests. Mr. Clark is connected with the Excelsoir Store as manager and is also serving as borough tax collector. On Jan. 7, 1903, Mr. Clark was united in marriage at Altoona, Pa., with Miss Edith Pearl Gobel, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Virginia Gobel, both deceased. Mr. Gabel died in 1910 and his wife died in 1920. He was a Civil War veteran. To Mr. and Mrs. Clark three children have been born: Margaret, deceased; Cleve, born June 7, 1910; and Ruth Francis, born June 10, 1913. Mr. Clark is a member of the United Brethren Church and his wife takes an active interest in missionary work, being secretary of the Womens' |
