have been born six children: Leland, born in 1908; James, born in July 1911; John, born in September 1914; Eugene, born in 1917; Ralph, born in April 1921; and Catherine Jane, born in 1924. W. N. Lockard is favorably known in Vintondale, where he is station agent for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was born at Cookport, Indiana County, Pa., Nov. 13, 1885, and is the son of T.N. and Susanna A. (Lutman) Lockard. Both T.N. Lockard and his wife are natives of Indiana County. He is the son of William Lockard, pioneer lumberman of that county, and Civil war veteran. T.N. Lockard has always been interested in the lumber business and now lives practically retired at Titusville, Fla. He is a Democrat, a member of the Methodist Church and affiliated with the Knights of Pythias. To Mr. and Mrs. Lockard were born seven children, as follows: H.L.., deceased; W.N., the subject of this sketch; John Boyd, lives at Mumford, N.Y., is a World war veteran; Belva Blanche, married Harry Vaughn, a World war veteran, who is a member of the U.S. Marine Band on the Mayflower, lives in Washington, D.C.; Twila E., lives at home; Thomas Franklin, a World war veteran, engaged in the real estate business at Detroit, Mich.; and Gladys, lives at home. After completing his schooling at Marion Center, Pa., W.N. Lockard entered the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad as a telegrapher at Glen Campbell. He was later transferred to Cherry Tree, after which he was made station agent at Frugality and Hastings. He has been located at Vintondale since 1914. In 1911, Mr. Lockard was married to Miss Nellie Mabel Anthony, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Anthony, natives of Indiana County. They have a daughter, Lavon, born Oct.28, 1912. Mr. Lockard is a Republican and is president of the school board of Vintondale. He is affiliated with F. and A.M., No. 3122, Ebensburg; Williamsport Consistory, thirty-second degree; Jaffa Temple and Shrine Club, Altoona. He is a man highly esteemed in his community. |
