In 1897 Mr. Myers was married to Miss Ella McDermott, the daughter of John and Nora McDermott. They have 10 children: Charles, born March 25, 1898, married Mildred Kerr, lives at Nanty Glo; Nora, married Reynold Lamont, lives at Nanty Glo, and they have two children, Helen and Mary Elizabeth; William, born in March, 1904, lives at home; Reta, at home; George, born in October, 1907; Lawrence, born in August, 1910; Martin, born in October, 1913; Dermott, born Aug. 18, 1915; Paul, born July 7, 1921; and John, born Aug. 31, 1903, died in 1904. David C. Davidson, superintendent of the Springfield Coal Company, Nanty Glo, ranks among the representative and successful business men of Cambria County. He was born at Sterlingshire, Scotland, Aug. 29, 1889, and is a son of John and Agnes (Chalmers) Davidson. John Davidson is a native of Scotland, born July 9, 1858, and the son of William and Agnes (Sneedon) Davidson, who spent their entire lives in Scotland. John Davidson began life as a coal miner and has always been interested in that line of work. He has lived in this country since 1912 and resides at Clymer, Pa. He is a Republican. To Mr. and Mrs. Davidson six children ere born: William, lives at Clymer, Pa.; David C., the subject of this sketch; Francis, died at Lorendo, Texas, in 1918 while serving in the World war as a member of Company C, Thirty-seventh Infantry; James, lives at Spangler; John, lives at Nanty Glo; and Robert, lives in Clymer. Agnes (Chalmers) Davidson was orn in Scotland, the daughter of David and Elizabeth (Marshall) Chalmers, natives of Scotland. Mr. Chalmers died in 1907, and his wife is also deceased. Their son, David Chalmers, is a graduate of Glasgow University, where he received his M. A. and B. S. C. degrees. He is a professor in mining engineering in Glasgow University. David C. Davidson was reared and educated in Scotland and in 1908 was graduated from the Coatbridge Technical School and Mining College. |
