father for several years and was later connected with the Ivory Hill Supply Company, and the Springfield Supply Company as assistant manager. On Aug. 5, 1921, Mr. Cunningham assumed his present position as manager of the Cambria Supply Company.
    In 1906 Mr. Cunningham was married to Miss Cary E. Croft, the daughter of John L. and Mary (Newman) Croft, natives of Center County, Pa. Mr. Croft served as a lieutenant during the civil war with the Pennsylvania Cavalry and was severely wounded while in action. He is deceased and his widow resides at Yarnell, Pa. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham: Melvin, born in 1907, a graduate of Nanty Glo High School; Nina, Catherine, and Caroline, students; George and Croft, both deceased.
    Mr. Cunningham is a Republican and has served as school director. He is a member of the Methodist Church, and is secretary of the Sunday school. His wife is church organist. Mr. Cunningham is affiliated with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Masonic Lodge, and Nanty Glo Business men's Association.




    Erwin Adams is numbered among the most prominent business men of Nanty Glo, where he is president of the Emergency Lighting Corporation. He was born at Portage, Pa., June 25, 1882, and is the son of G. W. and Joanna (Barnes) Adams.
    G. W. Adams, deceased, was a Civil war veteran. He was born in Bedford County, Pa., and died in 1919. His wife was also a native of that county and died in 1899. Mr. Adams was a carpenter by trade and for many years was successfully engaged in the contracting business at Portage. He served during the Civil war in the Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. He was a Republican, a member of the United Brethren Church and the Masonic Lodge, Johnstown. To Mr. and Mrs. Adams six children were born: Harvey and J. K., who live at Portage; Erwin, the subject of this sketch; Clara, Anna, and Catherine, all deceased.
    Erwin Adams was educated in the public schools of Bedford County and at an early age went to Pittsburgh, where as an apprentice he learned the electrical business with the Westinghouse Electric Company. He remained in the employ of this company until 1903, at which time he
