to Nanty Glo and served as assistant mine foreman for the Lincoln Coal Company until April, 1913, when he was appointed superintendent of the company. Mr. Burns is a director of the Peoples Building and Loan Association, the Union Bank of Nanty Glo, and is general manager and treasurer of the Cambria Supply Company. George H. Cunningham is among the highly esteemed and prominent business men of Nanty Glo, where he is manager of the Cambria Supply Company. He was born at Beula, Cambria County, Aug. 29, 1885, and is the son of John and Sally A. (Heilman) Cunningham. John Cunningham, deceased, was a native of Indiana County, Pa., born in 1851. He began life as a farmer but later engaged in the lumber business and owned large tracts of timber land throughout the state. He operated the first saw mill at Beula, a water propelled mill. Mr. Cunningham died Feb.12, 1920. They are buried at Bethel, Pa. Mr. Cunningham was a Republican and served as justice of the peace of Blacklick Township for 14 years and as county school director for one term. He was a member of the Baptist Church. To Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham were born 12 children, as follows: Roy, connected with the Miller Rubber Company, Akron, Ohio; Etta, married John Hoffman, a farmer, lives near Vintondale, Pa.; Inez P., married Daniel DeArmin, lives at Akron, Ohio; Clinton, lives at Johnstown; Clayton, lives at Nanty Glo; James and Charles, both deceased; George H., the subject of this sketch; Cora, married Hilding Edean, lives at Akron, Ohio; Norman; Nora and Steele, both deceased.
