who died in 1924, was a well known building contractor of Johnstown, where his widow now resides. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll have a son, Robert Clare, born in February, 1916. Leo M. Conrad is a progressive business man of Johnstown, where he is managing director of the Grand Amusement Company. He was born in this city, Aril 10, 1891, and is a son of Frank J. and Anna Mary (Burkhardt) Conrad. Frank J. Conrad, who lives retired in Johnstown, is a native of this city. He was born in February, 1855, and is a son of Michael and Rebecca (Cristey) Conrad. Michael Conrad was an engineer on the Pennsylvania Railroad for several years and died when he was 36 years of age. His widow, who was born in 1828, died May 4, 1924. Both are buried at Geistown, Pa. Frank J. Conrad, their son, began life as a steel worker in the employ of the Cambria Steel Company. He is a Democrat and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Knights of St. George. His wife was born in Johnstown, in October, 1854, the daughter of _____ and Catherine Burkhardt. To Frank J. and Anna Mary (Burkhardt) Conrad eight children were born, as follows: John J., born in 1880, married Annie Trout, lives in Johnstown; Mary Elizabeth, born in 1882, married Robert N. Haws, a broker, lives in Johnstown; Agnes Regina, born in 1884, married Josephy D. Blythe, lives in Johnstown; Annie Maire, born in 1886, married William Kirchner, lives in Johnstown; Gertrude C., born in 1888, married Frank M. Craig, a former member of the St. Louis American baseball team, lives in Johnstown, where he is connected with the Lorain Steel Company; Leo M., the subject of this sketch; Francis Henry, born in 1893, a World war veteran, married Viola Grace Custer, lives in Johnstown, where he is special agent for the Equitable Life Insurance Company; and Marguerite F., born in 1896, married Josephy C. Kelley, lives at Ferndale, Pa., where he is treasurer of the Cambria Theatre Company. Leo M. Conrad has always lived in Johnstown.
