in the general hauling and trucking business. In October, 1923, he left the railroad company and established his present business at 328 Greeve Street. Mr. Buterbaugh was local agent for the Miller Tire Company and Independent Oil Company. He carries a complete line of automobile accessories and has a well equipped place of business.
    In 1918 Mr. Buterbaugh was married to Miss Alice Agey, the daughter of Frank and Clara (Murray) Agey. Mr. Agey resides at East Conemaugh, where he as been in the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company for a number of years. His wife is deceased and is buried in Hedrick's Cemetery, East Conemaugh.
    Politically Mr. Buterbaugh is a Republican. He holds membership in the United Brethren Church, Y.M.C.A., and American Automobile Association.




    John F. Carroll is well and favorably know in Johnstown, where he is connected with the police force as sergeant of detectives. He is a native of Pennsylvania, born at Gallitzin, Jan. 24, 1887, the son of John W. and Clara (Wernz) Carroll.
    John W. Carroll was born at Gallitzin, Pa., and began life in the coal mines of Pennsylvania. In 1900 he removed to Moxham, where he was interested in the grocery business for several years. He later removed to Columbus, Ohio, where he now resides. He is a Republican and a member of the Catholic Church. His wife is a native of Columbus, Ohio. To Mr. and Mrs. Carroll were born five children: Harry, lives in Columbus, Ohio; John F., the subject of this sketch; Lawerence, lives at Columbus; Charles, lives in Johnstown, where he is manager of the Benshoff Printing Company; and Leo, lives at Columbus.
    John F. Carroll received his education in the public schools of Gallitzin and Johnstown. He was connected with the Johnstown Passenger Railway Company for 11 years, during which time he took a correspondence course in the Scranton International Correspondence School. He has been connected with the Johnstown police department since February, 1916. In 1917 he was promoted to the detective force, and in 1922 was promoted to the present responsible position as sergeant of detectives.
    In 1913 Mr. Carroll was united in marriage with Miss Cora Schnabel, the daughter of Henry and Priscilla (Wilson) Schnabel. Mr. Schnabel,
