1150 HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY

    In 1882 Mr. Pentrack was married to Miss Catherine Sabel, also a native of Austria-Hungary, born in 1859. To this union eight children were born: Stephen, Jr., an agent of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, president of the Brownstown Boro Council, and borough tax collector; Frank J., the subject of this sketch; Edward, a member of the firm of Pentrack Electric Company, and treasurer of Brownstown Boro; Charles, an electrician with the Bethlehem Steel Company; Joseph, superintendent of the Columbus Ignition Company, Columbus, Ohio; John, a member of the firm of Pentrack Electric Company; William, manager of Cupp's branch store; and Leo J., an electrician for the Pentrack Electric Company. During the Johnstown flood Mr. Pentrack helped save a great many lives and had over 40 families in his home for over one week at that time. He now lives retired. Mr. Pentrack is a member of St. Stephen's Church, and in politics is a Democrat.
    Frank J. Pentrack was educated in the public and parochial schools of Johnstown. Upon leaving school he learned the machinist's trade at the Cambria Steel Company's plant. In 1910 he went to Lorain, Ohio, where he worked his trade for five years in the employ of the United States Steel Corporation. In 1915 he started to learn the embalming trade under the direction of George B. Wickens, funeral director, Lorain, Ohio. In 1919 he was graduated from the Columbus Training School of Embalmers. In 1921 Mr. Pentrack returned to Johnstown and established his business at 603 Broad Street, later moving to his present location, 621 Broad Street. Here he has an up-to-date establishment, with a lady attendant also. Mr. Pentrack is licensed to practice in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
    On Nov. 6, 1912, Mr. Pentrack was united in marriage with Miss Mary Rosko, a daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (Kovach) Rosko, native of Austria, where they were married. They came to the United States when quite young and settled in Johnstown, where he was a miner. Mrs. Rosko died in 1921 and is buried in St. Stephen's Cemetery, and he lives retired in Johnstown. To Mr. and Mrs. Pentrack three children have been born: Richard, born in 1913, a student at St. Stephen's parochial school; Francis, born in 1915, a student; and Raymond, born in 1924.
    Mr. Pentrack is a Repbulican and a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church. He is affiliated with the B.P.O. Elks, No. 1301, Lorain, Ohio;
