welfare man with the National Tube Company, where he remained until 1917, when he entered the employ of the Travelers Insurance Company of Pittsburgh as an adjuster. In 1919 he was sent to Johnstown for this company and remained with them until in February, 1925, when he established his own business. Mr. Flatley represents the United States Casualty Company and Hudson Fire Insurance Company.
    On March 4, 1919, Mr. Flatley was married to Miss Mary Ward, born in Boston, but a resident of Pittsburgh at the time of her marriage. She is a daughter of Patrick F. and Rosemary (Mahady) Ward, residents of Boston. Mr. Ward was a distillery owner at one time, later engaging in the brokerage business. Both Mr. and Mrs. Ward are deceased and are buried in Lowell, Mass. To Mr. and Mrs. Flatley two children have been born: J. Richard, born July 7, 1920; and John M., born Jan. 25, 1922.
    M. D. Flatley, deceased, served in the Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry during the Spanish-American war.
    Mr. Flatley is a Republican and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, Council No. 426.
    During Mr. Flatley's college days he was greatly interested in athletics, playing on the varsity football team and served as acting captain. Upon leaving college he played professional football for McKeesport, Pa., being captain in 1915. He was also on the Canton and Massillon, Ohio, professional football team in 1917. In 1914 he was captain of the National Tube Company team of Pittsburgh. After leaving college he toured Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio and Indiana playing football. In 1915 he was captain of the Irish-American A.C. track team, located in Pittsburgh, which toured the Eastern states.




    Frank J. Pentrack, the well know funeral director of Johnstown, is a member of a pioneer family of Cambria County. He was born in Johnstown, Oct. 6, 1889, and is a son of Stephen and Catherine (Sabel) Pentrack.
    Stephen Pentrack was born in Austria-Hungary in 1853. He came to the United States in 1879 and located at Johnstown, where he secured a position as fireman with the Haws Refractories Company, where he remained for 27 years. He built a home in Brownstown Boro, which was one of the first to be built in that section, and is one of the earliest settlers.
