SCHLOSSNAGEL OF LURAY HOTEL, SHOOTS HIMSELF Well Known Proprietor of Market Street Place Had Been Melancholy CAME FROM SOMERSET Andrew Schlossnagel, aged about 60 years, proprietor of the Luray Hotel at 113 Market street, shot and killed himself in the reception room on the second floor of the hotel shortly before 1 oclock this afternoon. The bullet penetrated the heart, it is believed. Police were not informed of the reported suicide until 3 oclock this afternoon, receiving a call from another source and opening an investigation. While information regarding the tragedy was refused at the hotel, it was said that Mr. Schlossnagel had been melancholy. Civilian Superintendent of Police Arthur T. Mahan and other police are conducting the investigation, Efforts were being made to reach Coroner Cyrus Davis, who was reported to be in Beaverdale on official business. Pending the viewing of the body by Coroner Davis, the body has not been removed from the hotel. Andrew Schlossnagel was a native of Somerset County. He was the proprietor of the Arlington Hotel in Somerset, for many years. In 1914 Mr. Schlossnagel disposed of the hotel to Charles J. Harrison, Jr. Somerset Justice of the Peace, who converted the building into an office structure. Me. Schlossnagel is survived by his widow, who is a sister of Hal Benford, a conductor on the Cambria & Somerset Branch of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad for many years. | |
