BAKER, H. F.

SOURCE NOTATION:
Johnstown Daily Tribune, 20 Dec 1909, Contributed by Sandy Lewis

A victim of nervous troubles since he lost left hand in an accident in the old shirt factory on Water street twelve years ago. H.F. Baker died, at 1:25 oclock this morning at his home on Solomon street, Walnut Grove. The deceased was aged seventy-one years, seven months, and seven days
Mr. Baker who was a millwright by trade, came to Johnstown in 1890 and worked for some time in the J.J. Strayer planning mill. Later he secured employment in the shirt factory and there met with the accident which robbed him of his left hand. He became nervous following this misfortune and for the past twelve years had been unable to do any work. This trouble greatly undermined his health and he gradually declined until death came.
The deceased was a native of New York State, but came to Johnstown nineteen years since, and for seven years had resided in Walnut Grove where he acquired a large circle of friends. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Baker and one daughter, Mrs. John E. Pfeil, of No, 399 Bedford St. Funeral services will be conducted at the home of the latter probably at 2 oclock Thursday afternoon by the Rev. J.W.G. Fast, pastor of the Franklin street Methodist Episcopal Church at which the deceased was a member. Interment will be made in Sandyvale Cemetery.
