Remarks:   James Lee Phillippi, 78, of Friedens, went to be with Lord surrounded by his loving family Sunday, January 17, 2021. He was born May 27, 1942 at home in Somerset. Son of the late Ray Sr. and Ethel (Cullison) Phillippi. Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Nancy (Charlton) in August 2020; grandchildren, Kayla Joy and Nathan Singo; brother, Ray Jr.; infant brother; sister, Shirley; son-in-law, Ricky Mitchell; and siblings-in-law, Ted Singo, Jim Fisher, Van Tressler, Barb Charlton, and John Will. Survived by his daughters and caregivers, Stephanie married to Roy Menear and Nikki married to Adam Clawson; son, Michael Singo married to Tammy; grandchildren, Matthew Singo, and Cohen and Addie Clawson; niece and caregiver, Mylinda Budzina; siblings, Delores Fisher, Arlene Singo, and George Phillippi (Joanne); siblings-in-law, Esther Phillippi, Randy Charlton, Dan (Karen) Charlton, Carol Tressler, Sandy (Less Stitt), and Pat Will; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived and loved by many extended family members of the Charlton family. Jim was a well known artist around somerset county, with paintings completed for famous organizations including the 9 for 9 at Quecreek, Eagles, and Steelers. He enjoyed teaching art, hanging with friends at McDonalds, OBX vacations, and being involved in many church activities. He served in the US Army Reserves and retired from Seven Springs. He was proud to be co-owner for over 10 years of Phillippi’s Electronics in Somerset and 2 years of Phillippi’s Stereos in Latrobe. At Phillippi’s Electronics he got the opportunity to meet many people and sponsor local sports teams. Jim was a longtime member of Somerset Church of God, 1020 W Main St. , where a private viewing and funeral service will be held for his family members, Pastors Dean Sisk and M.D. Herring officiating. Flowers may be sent directly to the church by Thursday morning. Interment, Beulah Church Cemetery, Friedens. Graveside military rites accorded by Somerset County Honor Guard. Due to current pandemic precautions, his funeral service will be in person only for his family members. Obituary provided by Duca Funeral Home, Inc. Newspaper date unknown.
