Remarks:   Willie Mae Seals (85) of Gaithersburg Maryland, (formerly of Johnstown, Pennsylvania), was called home on April 23, 2020, at the Asbury Methodist Village where she resided for nearly five years. Sister Seals was born November 17, 1934 to Alonzo and Annie Hall of Midway, Alabama. Her education came from hard-working parents, Oak Grove Baptist Church, and the cotton fields of Midway. This education was the makings of a resourceful, strong, and perseverant woman who wanted her future children to have a life filled with opportunities. This desire led her to Johnstown where she spent most of her life and married the late Reverend Wylie Seals. Sister Seals retired from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 1988, but her life’s calling was being of service to her God and others. She visited the sick, fed the hungry, gave to the less fortunate, and extended a hand to everyone. No need was too large, no time was too late, no problem too hard for Sister Seals to pray and put radical actions behind her prayers. Sister Seals had an unconditional, everlasting love for her entire family. Sister Seals continued her service when in 2015 she moved into the Asbury Methodist Village in Maryland. Although dementia had taken some of her memories, it did not erase the values that were instilled in her during her developing years in Alabama. At the Village, she befriended her new neighbors and began to search for those in need: those who were wheelchair bound, she pushed them; those who could not speak, she spoke for them; those who were lonely, she comforted them. Alzheimer’s could not take away her loving spirit. When Sister Seals could not remember her children’s names, she gave them the names of her siblings. When she could no longer speak, she smiled. The cherished memories of Sister Seals will remain in the hearts of her four children: Jesse Edwards, Wayne Edwards, Regina Sow, and Lorie Seals; grandchild, John Russell Funderburk II; brothers Alonzo Hall, Jr., Charlie Frank Hall (deceased); sisters Elizabeth Hall (deceased), Wilma King, Lola Reviere (deceased), Odessa Hall, Susie Swoope, Minnie Dixson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Moska-Reid Funeral Home, 79 J Street, Johnstown, PA 15906
