Employed As Inspector At Bethlehem Plant Until Retirement Charles Brindle, 75, a Bethlehem pensioner, died at 1:07 oclock this morning at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Reiking, Belmont, where he had resided since the death of his wife last Jan. 7. He had been ill for two weeks. Mr. Brindle was born and reared in Old Conemaugh Boro and was living there as a young man of 20 at the time of the 1889 flood. During the flood he was crippled, suffering a permanent injury to his right arm. The deceased had been a nail inspector at the wire mill prior to his retirement two years ago. He was a son of Albert and Regina (Reich) Brindle and was born on Apr. 28, 1869. He and his late wife, the former Amanda Howard were united in marriage in Meyersdale on Dec. 30, 1898 [sic] by the Rev. W. S. Dwyer. The couple had made their home in the Belmont Section for 22 years. Mr. Brindle was also preceded in death by two sons, one daughter and three sisters. Five children survive. They are: John A., 108 Barnhart St.; Regina, wife of Harvey W. Horner, rear 74 du Pont Pl.; Mrs. Stella Reiking, mentioned; Anna Frances, wife of Daniel Wissinger, Jerry Walter Rd.; and Mary Catherine, wife of Robert Birch, near 517 Avalon Ave. He also leaves 10 grandchildren, one of whom is in the Navy, and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Blimmel Funeral Home after 7 oclock this evening. Services will be held at 9 oclock Tuesday morning at St. Benedicts Catholic Church, Geistown. Interment will be in St. Josephs Cemetery. | |
