| He Never Returned Mrs. Elizabeth Weakland died at the home of her son-in-law, F.J. Buck, at Coalport, last Saturday, aged 65 years. She was a sister of ex-Sheriff Luther and of Henry Luther, and Chrysostum Luther, of Carroll Township. She had five sisters, Mrs. Anselm Weakland, Mrs. Harry Bender, of Carroll Township; Mrs. Joseph Lieb, of Barr Township; Mrs. Michael Snyder, of DuBois, and Mrs. John Battner, of Munster Township. Four daughters survive her as follows: Jennie, wife of Benjamin Delozier; Matilda, wife of Celestine McMullen, of Hastings; Elmira, wife of Alexander McBeth, of Connellsville, and Lucinda, wife of F.J. Buck, above named. A rather romantic experience fell to the lot of the deceased. After the War of the Rebellion, in which her husband bore a patriotic part, she never again saw him, although no authentic evidence of his death ever reached her. Daily and nightly did she wait in patience for the footfall which never came and the cheery voice of the father of her children which they nor she were ever to hear again. All hope of his being alive has long since been abandoned. Her remains were interred at Carrolltown on Tuesday. -- Carrolltown News. |
