WILLIAM W. HOWELL DEPARTS THIS LIFE

Following a long illness, William W. Howell, South Ebensburg's grand old man, died at his home, surrounded by his family, Monday morning, February 24, 1919, at 6:15 0'clock, at the ripe old age of 80 years and 19 days. The deceased was born in Wales and came to America many years ago when a young man. He was united in marriage more than 50 years ago at South Ebensburg to Margaret Hughes, daughter of Mr and Mrs John T. Hughes, both deceased. Mr. Howell is survived by his widow and the following children: John, of Iowa City, IA; Mary, wife of Morgan Davis, Iowa City, IA; Elizabeth, wife of William Goodwin of Johnstown, PA; Cyrus and Edward, both of South Ebensburg; Eunice, wife of William Reese, of Cambria Township; Marion, of Johnstown; Maude and Lemuel, both at home. Tht funeral service attended by Capt. John M. Jones Post, G .A. R. was held at the home , Wednesday afternoon, February 26 at 1 o'clock with services by Rev. John R. Thomas of Ebensburg. A very large concourse of relatives and friends was present. Following the service interment was made in Lloyd Cemetery, where the last rites of The grand Army were performed by old comrades. May he rest in Peace.
