| Remarks: | Merle V. Weakland, 78, Ashville, died April 13, 1991, at Mercy Hospital, Altoona, after an extended illness.
Born March 23, 1913, in Allegheny Township, son of late Harvey and Coletta (Rabus) Weakland.
He was preceded in death by son, Donald, who died June 26, 1987; an infant daughter, Connie Marie, in 1941; brothers, Clarence, Oliver and Ira; and sister, Rita Storme. He is survived by his wife, former Marie Muldoon, whom he married April 16, 1940, in St. Agnes' church, Cassandra. Death ends a marriage union of 50 years. Also survived by a daughter, Patricia, wife of Terry Buckel of Altoona; daughter-in-law, Carmela, Altoona; grandson, Eric Messersmith, and step-granddaughter, Katie Buckel. Brother of Dolorosa and Leora Settlemyer, both of Altoona; Modestus, Hamburg, NY; Garvey, Chest Springs; and Mary Theresa Weber, Ebensburg. Retired from Conrail, June 30, 1976, as a molder helper. Life member of Ashville Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as a fire police. Member of Central District Volunteer Firemen's Association; Ashville Borough police offer for many years; member of Mainline Police Association and St. Thomas' Catholic Church, Ashville where Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on April 17th, the Rev. Albert Anselmi. Interment, St. Brigid's Cemetery, Lilly. | |
