He was preceded in death by son, Donald, who died June 26, 1987; an infant daughter, Connie Marie, in 1941; brothers, Clarence, Oliver and Ira; and sister, Rita Storme.

He is survived by his wife, former Marie Muldoon, whom he married April 16, 1940, in St. Agnes' church, Cassandra. Death ends a marriage union of 50 years. Also survived by a daughter, Patricia, wife of Terry Buckel of Altoona; daughter-in-law, Carmela, Altoona; grandson, Eric Messersmith, and step-granddaughter, Katie Buckel. Brother of Dolorosa and Leora Settlemyer, both of Altoona; Modestus, Hamburg, NY; Garvey, Chest Springs; and Mary Theresa Weber, Ebensburg.

Retired from Conrail, June 30, 1976, as a molder helper. Life member of Ashville Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as a fire police. Member of Central District Volunteer Firemen's Association; Ashville Borough police offer for many years; member of Mainline Police Association and St. Thomas' Catholic Church, Ashville where Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on April 17th, the Rev. Albert Anselmi. Interment, St. Brigid's Cemetery, Lilly.
