Was Active Townsend Club Worker; Funeral Services on Monday Daniel L. Seese, 72, of 228 Conemaugh Street, well known in the central part of town and an active worker in the Townsend Club, died at 5:30 o'clock this morning in Mercy Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital on August 4 and underwent an operation for the amputation of a leg a few days later. Mr. Seese last worked about five years ago as a truck driver for the Arrow Furniture Company and prior to that was employed by the Swank Hardware Company. He was actively identified with the Johnstown Townsend Club No. 11, of which his widow is first vice-president. Born in Rummel, Somerset County, he was a son of David and Mary (Thomas) Seese, both deceased, and he was married twice. His first wife was the former Tennie Baumgardner, who died a number of years ago. Surviving are his second wife, Mrs. Catherine (Inipple) Swartz-Seese; two daughters - Mable, wife of Clarence Anders of Baltimore, Md., , and Lillie, wife of George Lias of Sarah Avenue, both born to the first union - and a step-son, Jack Swartz, at home. Two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a brother, William Seese of Ferndale Avenue, also survive. Funeral services have been arranged for 2 o'clock (DST) on Monday afternoon at the Seese home, in charge of the Rev. Archie Lynn, pastor of the First Brethren Church. Burial in Grandview Cemetery will be directed by the John Henderson Company. | |
