Was Past Chief of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers; Retired Daniel P. Courter, 63, retired Pennsylvania Railroad engineer, fell dead at his home, 233* Third Street, Conemaugh, at 12:10 o'clock this afternoon. He had been in ill health for the past three years, but was about as usual today until fatally stricken. Mr. Courter was a son of David and Catherine (Pringle) Courter, old-time residents of Conemaugh, now deceased. He is survived by his widow, the former Margaret Mathieson, and these children: Edna, wife of William Walters, Mineral Point; Herbert Courter of Monessen* and Herman Courter, a teacher in the Conemaugh High School. Five grandchildren survive. Mr. Courter was a brother of Harry Courter of Johnstown and Mrs. Violet Spanogle of Conemaugh. Mr. Courter was a member of the First Brethren Church, Conemaugh; of Conemaugh Council No. 127, Jr. O. U. A. M. and was a past chief of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Funeral services will be held at the Courter home on Friday afternoon. Rev. W. H. Schaffer of the Conemaugh Brethren Church to officiate. Interment will be in the family plot in Headrick's Cemetery directed by Carl E. Davis, mortician. | |
