Louis Schimpf, a well-know citizen of Elder township, died at his home in that township on Monday, September 3rd, 1900, aged 63 years.
Deceased was born in Germany and when about two years of age was brought to this country by his parents, who settled on the farm where Mr. Shimpf died. He was married to Miss Woodley thirty-five years ago, to which union eight children were born, all of whom are living: Albert, of Altoona; Sylvester, of Gallitzin; Henry, of Hastings; Peter, of Hastings; Samuel and Elmer, at home; Rose, wife of Lawrence Warner, of Hastings, and Lizzie, wife of Dennis Kirk, of Elder Township.
He is also survived by these sisters and brothers: Mrs. Lawrence Schroth, of Carrolltown; Mrs. Barbara Woodley, of Elder township; Kate, wife of John Brown, of Elmira, N.Y.; Mary, wife of Christ Beyer, of Altoona; John, of Carrolltown; Lena, wife of Joseph Lockard, of Altoona, and Frank, of Elmira, N.Y. The remains were interred in St. Benedict's cemetery. |
