| Patrick Minahan The subject of this notice died this morning at 2 o'clock at his residence in Minersville. He had been in failing health for a long time, paralysis having rendered him practically helpless. Mr. Minahan was born in County Limerick, Ireland, in 1839, and came with his parents, John and Mary Minahan, to the United States in 1850, landing at New York. In 1857 the family came to Johnstown. Patrick was married in 1850 to Miss Sarah Kanah, by whom he had eight children. Deceased was the eldest of eleven children, five of whom died in their youth. Those surviving are William, who resides in Cambria Borough; Mrs. Dowling, who keeps a saloon on Iron street, Millville; Daniel and Thomas, residents of St. Louis, and James, who is at home with his parents, who reside in Minersville, the venerable father being so feeble that his death is thought near at hand. John Minahan, who was murdered by Mickey Smith two years ago, was a brother of the decased. Mr. Minahan was a prominent figure about town for a long time until about two years ago, when he quit wagoning, an occupation [rest of obituary unavailable from my copy]. |
