| THOMAS W. CRAMER, OF INDIANA COUNTY, IS DEAD; AGED 66. Merchant and Justice of Peace Succumbs to Illness of About a Year. WELL-KNOWN LOCALLY. Cramer. May 18 - Thomas W. Cramer, Justice of the Peace in East Wheatfield Township for the past 10 years and prominent for many years in Indiana County affairs, died at his home here last midnight, following a lingering illness. Stricken by paralysis about a year ago, Mr. Cramer had been partially incapacitated since that time and within the last few weeks was unable to leave his home. A few days ago he was compelled to take his bed. Thomas W. Cramer was the eldest son of Joseph and Sarah (Barclay) Cramer and was born at Blacklick May 10, 1857, celebrating his birthday anniversary just a week previous to death. His father having been a charcoal contractor, Thomas W. Cramer in early life was employed in charcoal camps and as a driver for some years before entering the firm of Joseph Cramer & Sons, which established a general store here many years ago, also dealing in lumber, coal, stone, etc. Since the death of Joseph Cramer, T. W. Cramer had been associated with his brother, Robert G. Cramer in the firm of Cramer Bros. He was well known in Johnstown. The deceased had been all his mature life a staunch Republican and represented his district as a county committeeman for a number of years, serving as such at the time of his death. He had always taken a keen interest in politics. He was a lifelong and devoted member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, for the greater part of his life being a member of the Cramer congregation which he served in various official capacities, being Treasurer and Trustee in this conference year. On May 17, 1893, Mr. Cramer was married to Miss Laura May Hill, daughter of John Wesley and Martha Stewart Hill, of Armagh, who survives with the following children: Clifford H. Cramer, of New York City; Ruth M., Bess M. and John Elkins, at home. Death came on the 30th wedding anniversary. The following brothers and sisters of Mr. Cramer also survive: Mrs. Mary Findley, of Cramer; Mrs. Annie E. Ashcom, of 173 D street, Johnstown; Robert G., of Cramer; Mrs. Maude Myers, of Cramer; Mrs. Katherine McClure, of Acosta, Somerset County, and Bruce D. Cramer, of Canton, O. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Cramer residence, with interment in Armagh Cemetery, where the parents and other relatives are buried. |
