VASBINDER -- Louis "Shorty," 82, Silver Spring, Md., formerly of Portage, died May 20, 1982, at Sylvan Manor, Silver Spring. Born Oct. 31, 1899, in Hastings, son of Franklin Henry and Viola (King) Vasbinder. Preceded in death by parents, and first wife, former Margaret Foreman. Survived by widow, former Grace Pringle, widow of Chester Chaney; son, Louis Jr., whereabouts unknown; and stepchildren: Lorraine, wife of George Brewer, Rockville, Md.; Donald Chaney and wife, Penny, Mount Airy, Md.; and Joseph Chaney, Chantilly, Va.; also three stepgrandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Brother of Virgil, St. Michael; Lloyd, Beaver Falls; and Josephine Riggs, Harrisburg. Member of Church of the Brethren, Portage. Retired coal miner. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc. South Fork, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev.
