| D. P. Coulter Killed At Derry. Was Son of Former Sheriff and Postmaster Coulter, of Conemaugh. Had Barbershop. His Body Was Found Along P. R. R. Tracks and Death Came Later. David Pringle Coulter, 40 years old and married, a son of Ex-Sheriff and Ex-Postmaster D. W. Coulter, of Conemaugh, was fatally injured on the railroad about three-fourths of a mile east of Derry early last evening. He was found by a brakeman at 6:12 o'clock and died at 7 o'clock in the surgical room of the P. R. R. at Derry. His skull was crushed in until the brain was exposed and his left ankle was broken. It is not known what train hit him. The body was shipped to Conemaugh this afternoon by Undertaker Nicholson, of Derry, and the funeral will be held at Conemaugh to-morrow afternoon. The services will be held at the Gettemy home and will be private. Mr. Coulter had been working in the tobacco factory at Lancaster and lived there with his brother, William Coulter. What he was doing in Derry has not been learned. His wife has been living at Wilkinsburg. "Dave" Coulter was formerly associated with S. W. Paul in the cigar business and a barbershop on Main street and on Franklin street. Mr. Paul later went into business for himself, and Mr. Coulter then sold out to Louis H. Opperman. Although Mr. Coulter has not been in Johnstown for a number of years, he will be remembered by a large number of people here. Besides his father, who resides in Conemaugh, his wife and one son, D. J. Coulter, Mr. Coulter is survived by the following sisters: Mrs. George Parks, of Rockwood; Mrs. Emma Fite, of Franklin, and Mrs. James Gettemy, of Conemaugh, and one brother, William Coulter, of Lancaster. |
