JUNIORS WILL PRESENT PROGRAM AT CONEMAUGH
Play and Musical Numbers to Feature Chapel Exercises Tomorrow Morning
The Junior class of the Conemaugh High School will present the chapel program tomorrow morning in the
school auditorium. Featuring the event will be the presentation of a play "Too Much of a Good Thing."
The cast of characters is as follows:
"Mr. Perkins," father of Nellie and Hattie, Clark Palmer; "Tom Perkins," a country cousin, Charles Falght;
"Fred Schuyler," intended husband of Jennie Cooper, andother cousin of the Perkins family, Andrew Ryan;
"Mres. Perkins," a very precise stepmother who does everything by the strictest rules of the best society,
Margaret Shnakle; "Hattie Perkins," daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perkins, Jo Parks; "Nellie Perkins," another
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perkins, Margaret Reighard; "Jennie Cooper," Fred Schuyler's affianced, Jean
Baird; "Polly," the maid, Jessie Good.
Other numbers on the program are as follows:
Opening exercise, school.
Scripture reading, Paul Rorabaugh.
Song, school.
Reading, Margaret Mackall.

FINE RECEPTION BY BAPTISTS FOR REV. DR. OWENS
Dr. Adams, Rev. MacCulloch, Dr. Campbell and Dr. Anderson Extend Greetings
E. L. ROBERTS PRESIDES
The Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Clifford A. Owens, late of Monroe, Ga., where tendered a rousing reception last
evening by several hundred members of the Memorial Baptist congregation and others at the Vine-street
edifice, the Rev. Dr. Owens having entered upon his duties here early in February. The reception in the
auditorium was presided over by Ewart L. Roberts, a son of a former pastor of the local charge, who
represented the Official Board of the First Ward congregation.
The Rev. Dr. Clarence A. Adams, of State College, was present at the reception as the representative of the
Centre Baptist Association.
Dr. Adams spoke in glowing terms of Dr. Owens' predecessor and the exalted place he held in the esteem of
his congregation, but he assured the members of Memorial Church that in Dr. Owens they have a minister who
will measure fully up to the standard set by Dr. H. J. Whalen in worthiness.
Dr. Adams welcomed the new pastor into the jurisdiction of the Centre Baptist Association.
The Rev. John MacCulloch, pastor of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, brought the greetings of the local
Baptists to Dr. and Mrs. Owens and assured them of a warm place in the hearts of all people of that
denomination in Johnstown. He pointed out that the new minister and his wife came.......

GOOD PROGRAM FOR TIRE HILL MEETING
The following program will be presented at a meeting of the Tire Hill Parent-Teacher Association to be
held at the Tire Hill school at 7:45 o'clock tomorrow evening:
Song, fifth grade pupils.
Reading, Jenny Koss.
Solo, Miss Mary McAuliff.
Instrumental music, Leroy Yoder.
Dong, "A Bouquet,", third grade pupils.
Address, D. E. Seese, teacher in the Franklin Borough schools.
TWO WORKERS ELECTROCUTED
Sistersville, W. Va., Oct. 8. -- George Lewis, 38, was killed instantly and Jack Marsk, 60, was fatally
injured today when they came in contact with a high tension wire while employed by the State Road
Department three miles north of here. The men were removing a pile driver which had come in contact with
the wire when they were electrocuted.
HOSPITAL NOTES
The condition of Paul Boden, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Boden, of 73 Napoleon street, who has been seriously
ill, is noted as fai rat [sic] Memorial Hospital, where he was readmitted Monday. Mr. Boden, who was a
student last year at the Johnstown Junior College, was a patient at the hospital previously, leaving about
10 days ago, and was re-admitted Monday when his condition is said to have taken a turn for the worse.
While some improvement has been noted, the condition of Ernest Ott, 36, of Holsopple, who was injured in a
trolley car-motor truck accident last Saturday night, continues "not good" at Memorial hospital.
Robert W. Seese, of 539 Cypress avenue, had tonsils and adenoids removed in Mercy Hospital today.
Mrs. Cloyd Martin, of the rear 740 Bedford street, who underwent an operation Sunday in Memorial Hospital is
reported in a favorable condition.
Operated upon a short time following his admission to Memorial Hospital last Saturday, John Bielski, aged
eight years, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bielski of Quecreek, Somerset County, is reported to be resting fairly
well.
John S. Mitchell, aged 26, of 643 1/2 Highland avenue, who underwent an emergency operation Monday afternoon
in Memorial Hospital, is said to be in an unfavorable condition.

COMPLETE PLANS FOR DINNER-MEET
PROGRAM IN HONOR OF E. PRESTON SHARP
EMBRACES KILLIUS, CRAWFORD AS SPEAKERS.
That all plans have been completed for the opening dinner-meeting of the Hilltop Men's Club to be held at
the Westmont Presbyterian Church at 6:30 o'clock on Monday evening is the announcement of President John M.
McGahan. The October meeting is in the form of a reception for E. Preston Sharp, new supervising principal
in the Westmont-Upper Yoder schools. In line with this, two other educators have been secured as speakers,
City Superintendent James Killius to deal with education in a general way and Dr. S. C. Crawford, head of
the Johnstown Junior College, to detail the possibilities of the Junior College.
R. H. Owens has arranged the music program of the evening and will direct his orchestra during the dinner.
These meetings have proven a successful means of community fellowship, being open to all men of the borough. The Woman's Association, of the Westmont Presbyterian Church will serve the dinner.
In addition to President McGahan, the officers of the club are: Vice President, Carl A. Engh; Secretary-
Treasurer, D. J. Maxwell; Membership Committee, Harry T. Kelly, Chairman, and Advisory Committee, Dr. O. G. A.
Barker and A. B. Crichton. The club meets the second Monday of each month in the social hall of the
Westmont Presbyterian Church, Sixth avenue and Luzerne street.
NOTES
Mrs. William Seibert, a former resident of this city, left today for her home at Altoona. She came here to
attend the funeral of Mrs. Edward Reese.
Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Wilson, accompanied by Mrs. Sarah Mardis and Mrs. Sutcliff, of Johnstown, visited friends
in Everett on Sunday last and while here were agreeable callers at the Chamberlain home east of town.
Mrs. Lynn Gobin, of Edgehill Drive, is home from a visit with relatives in New York. She was accompanied
home by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. John Gobin, and two children, who have been visiting with Mrs. Gobin's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Main, of Ada, O[klahoma]. Mrs. Gobin and children will stop here Monday and
spend a few days with the Gobin family on their return home to New York.

MRS. MARY RISBON HAS PASSED AWAY
Former Cresson and Munster Resident Succumbs at Her Home in Altoona
ALTOONA, Dec. 8. – Mrs. Mary (Kearney) Risbon, aged 70 years, wife of Anthony T. Risbon, died Saturday at
her home here, following a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Risbon came to Altoona a year ago from Munster. She was
a daughter of John and Rose (McNichol) Kearney and was born August 11, 1860, at Munster. She and Anthony
Risbon were married January 1, 1878, the ceremony being performed at St. Aloysius’ Catholic Church at the
Summit by the Rev. Father Thomas Davin. Mrs. Risbon is survived by her husband and the following children:
Maude, wife of Thomas Bradley, of Cresson; Ruth, of Norristown; Sisters M. Norbert and Valeria, both of
Seton Hill Seminary, Greensburg; Hilda, wife of George Baum, of Cleveland, O.; Mercedes, wife of C. E.
Maloney, of Pittsburg; Miss Auirea, of Philadelphia, and Leo, of Canton, O. She was a sister of Michael
Kearney, of Cresson, and Mrs. Vance Baird, of Altoona. A brother, Daniel, passed away last July in Cresson.
Two sons also preceded her to the grave.
The deceased was a member of St. Therese’s Catholic Church here, where a solemn high mass of requiem will be
celebrated tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock. The body will be taken to Lilly for interment in St. Brigid’s
Catholic Church Cemetery.
