Harold F. Buck, a representative and successful young business man of Portage, is a veteran of the World War. He was born at Carrolltown in Cambria County, March 18, 1896, and is the son of C. F. and Anna (Callahan) Buck. Russel S. Goldstein is one of the poplar young business men of Portage, where he is manager of the furniture business established by his father in 1889. He is a veteran of the World War. Mr. Goldstein was born in Portage, Aug. 9, 1896, and is a son of Abraham B. and Rebecca (Berger) Goldstein. Both Abraham B. Goldstein and his wife were natives of Russia. He was born Sept. 10, 1859, and when 25 years of age emigrated to the United States and settled in Altoona, Pa. He spent seven years as a peddler in Somerset and Cambria counties, and in 1889 settled at Portage, where he was associated in business with H. S. Goldstein. This partnership continued for 20 years. The present store building, which is of two story brick construction, was erected in 1924, the original store being destroyed by fire. Mr. Goldstein has become one of the leading merchants of Portage and is well known in the state.
