natives of Wales, who emigrated to the United States in 1886 and settled at Luzerne, Pa. He was a mining engineer. Mr. and Mrs. Jones, deceased, had ten children as follows: Thomas T., lives at Luzerne, Pa., Jane, deceased; Catherine J., married Alfred Thomas, lives at New Kensington, Pa.; Elizabeth J. Connah; Mary J., the widow of Leonard Seebald, lives at Luzerne, Pa.; Fannie, deceased; William T., lives at Luzerne; Edward John and Frank, both deceased. To William and Elizabeth J. (Jones) Connah the following children were born: Joseph, Arthur, Leonard, John and George, all deceased; twins died in infancy; William J., mention of whom is below; Mary, Lillian, married George Dewey Ross, lives at Johnstown, and they two sons, William Edward and James Wilbur; James married Anna Summers, live at Nanty Glo. Michael Mihalik, a veteran of the World War, is among Cambria County’s prominent young business men. He is a cashier of the Vintondale State Bank. He was born at Brisbin, Clearfield County, Pa., Oct. 10, 1887, and is the son of Micahel and Mary (Tomko) Mihalik. Both Michael Mihalik and his wife were born in Czecho-Slovakia. They emigrated to this country in 1881 and settled at Brisbin, Pa., where Mr. Mihalik worked in the mines. He later went to Dunlo, Cambria County, and in 1911 removed to Nanty Glo where he died in 1922. His widow resides at Nanty Glo. To Mr. and Mrs. Mihalik were born 11 children, as follows: Micahel, the subject of this sketch; Andrew, lives at Elmirs, N.Y., is World War veteran, having served in France as a sergeant in the air service; Nicholas, lives at Nanty Glo, is also a World War veteran, having served in France as a corporal in the air service; |
