tendent of the Johnstown Chalmers Company, in charge of service. In 1915 he organized the Oakland Sales, and became proprietor of the local agency. In 1920 this company was incorporated under the state laws of Delaware, with Mr. Davis as president; Mrs. Strother Davis, vice president; and E. P. Blugh, secretary and treasurer. The Oakland Motor Sales Company is one of the best known and most reliable automobile agencies in the city and has a well established business.
    In October, 1917, Mr. Davis took an examination and received a commission as a first lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps, and was sent to Camp Herring, Peoria, Ill., where he attended the Ordnance School of Tractors. He was then transferred to Racine, Wis., and attended the truck school. He served in the Rock Island Arsenal and attended the School of Arms and Ammunition. He was then sent to Camp Cody, Deming, N.M., as the commanding officer of the Ordnance Detachment of the One Hundred Twenty-seventh Field Artillery. Mr. Davis saw service in France and served as a captain. He was discharged at Camp Dodge, Iowa, Jan. 21, 1919. Mr. Davis now holds a commission as a major in the Officers' Reserve Corps. He is commanding officer of the Three Hundred Fifth Motor Repair Battalion, with headquarters at Johnstown, Ninety-ninth Division.
    On June 13, 1918, Mr. Davis was married at Lawton, Okla., to Miss Oyllen Arvan Stahl.
    Mr. Davis holds membership in the Lutheran Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and is a charter member of La Societe des 40 Hommes et 8 Chevaux. He is affiliated with B.P.O.E. No. 175, and is past exalted ruler and trustee.



    Samuel M. Daugherty, proprietor of the Atlas Real Estate Company, is a progressive and successful business man of Johnstown. He was born at Claysburg, Blair County, Pa., Sept. 27, 1878, and is the son of Frank and Sarah (Cox) Daugherty.
    Frank Daugherty, deceased, was a native of Pennsylvania. He was born in Clearfield County, April 17, 1848. During his active career Mr. Daugherty engaged in the lumber business, and in 1906 removed to Johnstown, where he died Dec. 17, 1908, and is buried in Grand View Cemetery, Johnstown. Mr. Daugherty was a Republican and a member of the United Evangelical Church. His wife was born at Spruce Hollow, Bedford County,
