1162 HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY

    On Feb. 20, 1901, Mr. Smith was married to Miss Minnie Jones, the daughter of David H. and Margaret (Morgan) Jones. Mr. Jones was born at Danville, Pa., and died Sept. 10, 1919. His widow was born in Wales, and resides at Luzerne, Pa. They were the parents of 10 children: Margaret, married Edward Jones, lives at Huntingdon, Pa.; Jennie, married Richard Blight, lives at Luzerne, Pa.; Mrs. Smith; Thomas, William, David, and Eva, all decreased; Lewis, lives at New Kensington, Pa.; Jessie, lives at Luzerne; and Roy, deceased. To Edward and Minnie (Jones) Smith three children were born: Edna, married William Dunmier, lives at Detroit, Mich.; Elva, a graduate of Nanty Glo High School and Rowe Business College, lives in Johnstown; and Carl E., engaged in business with his father.
    Mr. Smith is a Republican, a member of the United Brethren Church, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Knights of Pythias, Moose and Elks lodges. He has an extensive acquaintance in Cambria County and stands high in the community.




    S. A. Campbell is a prominent business man and highly esteemed citizen of Nanty Glo. He was born at Cherry Tree, in Clearfield County, Pa., May 18, 1881, and is the son of William H. and Martha (Yingling) Campbell.
    William H. Campbell, deceased, was a Civil war veteran. He was born in Burnside Township, Clearfield County, Pa., Aug. 24, 1844, and died March 13, 1917. He is buried at East Ridge, Pa. Mr. Campbell began life as a millwright but after the close of the Civil war he served with Company F, Fifth Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and participated in the battles of Fredericksburg and Antietam. He was married July 7, 1866, to Miss Martha Yingling, who was born in Burnside Township, Clearfield County, Sept. 7, 1848. She resides on the home place. Mr. Campbell was a Republican, an elder of the Baptist Church, and belonged to the Grand Army of the Republic, William Conner Post, Cherry Tree. To Mr. and Mrs. Campbell were born nine children, as follows: Benjamin, deceased; one child died in infancy; Joseph, lives at Glen Campbell, Pa.; Margaret, married Isaac Pennington, lives at Glen Campbell; Jacob, lives at Glen Campbell; Minnie, married William J. McMahon, lives at Turtle
