since devoted his time to the insurance and real estate business. He is also extensively interested in the coal business. Mr. Schnabel was president of the Conemaugh and Franklin Water Company for several years. He is treasurer and a director of the George Pearce & Sons Coal Company, a director and largest owner of the Sanitary Dairy Company, president of the Sanitary Ice and Cold storage Company, and vice president and director of the First National Bank of East Conemaugh. He is one of the largest real estate owners in Johnstown, owner of a large office building on Locust Street, and many residences, and is active in the Chamber of Commerce and all civic affairs.
    On June 2, 1904, Mr. Schnabel was united in marriage with Miss Catherine Bergman, of Johnstown. They have three Children: Helen Marie, born in 1910; Daniel R., Jr., born in 1915, and Mildred Louise, who died in infancy.
    Mr. Schnabel is affiliated with the Elks Lodge, being a life member since 1906, and is a member of the Rotary and Kiwanis clubs, Moose club. Sunnehanna Country Club, president of the Sportsman's Association, vice president of the Anglers' Association, and a member of the Johnstown Rifle and Gun Club. He is identified with the Insurance Federation of America. He is a Pennsylvania State fish commissioner, and a member of the Pennsylvania State Conservation Council.
    Mr. Schnabel was greatly interested in securing the new hatchery site for the State Fish Commission, to be located at Reynoldale, Bedford County. He was appointed on the committee of fish hatchery sites in Pennsylvania.

    Dr. William E. Grove, one of Johnstown's capable physicians and surgeons, who specializes in the treatment of diseases of the ear, nose and throat, is a veteran of the World war. He was born in this city, Aug. 23, 1888, and is the son of William B. and Mary J. (Wood) Grove.
    William B. Grove is a highly esteemed citizen of Johnstown, where he has been identified with the Bethlehem Steel Company for a number of years. Both he and his wife are natives of Pennsylvania and are the parents of four children: William E., the subject of this sketch; James B., deceased; Norman Ross, deceased; and Robert, lives in Johnstown and in 1913 was graduated from Jefferson Medical College.
