Samuel R. Miller received his education in the old Wissinger school-house near Sidman. He was late employed in the saw mill of Gross & Johnson, at Rutherford, Pa., after which he was employed for nine years as a carpenter by the firm of Grumling & Kaufman. He then engaged in the contracting business for himself at Portage and later returned to Sidman, where he was a member of the firm of Miller & Costlow, contractors and builders. In 1917 Mr. Miller became owner of the business, which he has since successfully conducted. He is also an extensive lumber dealer. In 1921 Mr. Miler built the local water works, of which he is owner.
