On Dec. 3, 1917, Mr. Roberts was united in marriage with Miss E. Ethel Mutch, of Lebanon, the daughter of Charles and Margaret A. (Moyer) Mutch, residents of Philadelphia. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts have a daughter, Phylis Ethel, and son, Herbert James. Demetrius Augustine Luther, deceased, was well and favorably known throughout Cambria County, where he spent practically his entire life. He was born in this county, Oct. 29, 1855, the son of Jacob and Sarah (Bearer) Luther. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Luther are deceased and buried in Carrolltown Cemetery. D. A. Luther, familiarly known as "Pop" Luther, spent his boyhood in Cambria County and at an early age was employed in the oil fields near Warren, Pa. Upon his return to Carrolltown he opened a paint shop, which he conducted for several years. He then owned and operated a planing mill and also engaged in construction work, erecting some of the finest homes and buildings at Carrolltown and Patton. He was the first business man in this section of the county to install a private telephone line. In 1915 Mr. Luther purchased from Luther, Lieb & Estep the hardware store, which he successfully conducted until his death, April 27, 1924. On June 3, 1884, Mr. Luther was united in marriage with Miss Josephine Yahner, the daughter of Paul and Barbara (Long) Yahner. To Mr. and Mrs. Luther the following children were born: Adelaide, housekeeper for Rev. Method, O. S. B.; Helena, joint manager of the Luther hardware business with her brother, Fred; Hilda, a member of the Benedictine Order of Nuns, located at St. Mary's Convent, Pittsburgh, enrolled as Sister Mary Rosalia, teacher of music; Colette, a violinist; Cecelia, a trained nurse, now married to Frank Mulligan, lives at McKeesport, Pa.; Fred, manager of "Sunset Auditorium," a dancing pavilion; Marcelline, at home; and Mary, employed by the Central Trading Corporation. Politically Mr. Luther was a Democrat. He was a director of the Grange National Bank, Patton; the Carrolltown Gas Company, and a member of the Cambria County Fair Association.
