with Frank A. Shoemaker, Esq. Mr. Jones was admitted to the bar Oct. 24, 1904, and has since engaged in practice in Ebensburg. He formed a partnership in 1915 with C. R. Myers, which continued until 1920. Mr. Jones then practiced alone until 1923, when he became associated with George W. Griffith. They have an extensive practice and are widely known in the county. Henry Franklin Dorr, civil and mining engineer, with offices in Ebensburg, is among the representative and widely known citizens of Cambria County. He was born at East Liberty, Pittsburgh, Oct. 23, 1885, and is the son of John George and Laura Jane (Flemming) Dorr. John George Dorr, deceased, was a native of Westmoreland County, Pa., and his wife was born in Armstrong Township, Indiana county, Pa. Mr. Dorr was reared on a farm and later settled in Indiana County with his parents, where he lived until he reached the age of 21 years. He then worked as an apprentice bridge builder and followed that trade for number of years, after which he engaged in the building business for himself, at which he continued until shortly before his death, which occurred May 9, 1922. His wife died in August, 1895, and they are buried in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, Pa. To Mr. and Mrs. Dorr were born five children: Mrs. Eva M. Mayers, deceased; Mrs. Alice Thompson, lives at Camden, N. J.; John Elwood, with the U. S. Navy in China; Enos, lives at Wilkinsburg, Pa.; and Henry Franklin, the subject of this sketch. |
