Herbert Schrader is well and favorably known in Johnstown and Geistown, where he is identified with the business of William Schrader, leading florists of this section. He was born in Johnstown, July 2, 1896, and is the son of William and Lena (Thom) Schrader. R. A. Betz, garage owner of Summerhill, is among the leading and dependable young business men of Cambria County. He was born at this place, Sept. 9, 1897, and is the son of George and Minnie (Long) Betz. George Betz came to this country from Germany with his parents when he was six years of age. They settled at Summerhill, where Mr. Betz was employed by a lumber dealer and contractor. He died in 1915. His widow, who resides at Summerhill, is a native of this place and the daughter of Peter Long, early settler of Cambria County. To Mr. and Mrs. Betz seven children were born, as follows: Clestine, married Elva White, lives at Summerhill, Pa.; Frances, married Charles Hittle, lives at Summerhill; Marie and Clara, both at home; Coletta, married Adolph West, lives at Summerhill; and R. A., the subject of this sketch. |
